Alfredo Ramos Fernández was born in 1964 in Havana, Cuba. He earned a Geography graduate degree at the University of Havana and worked for a time as researcher at the Academy of Sciences of Cuba. As a student he became linked with artistic groups and collaborated with several artists in performances and exhibitions as photographer and designer of electronic equipment and props. From 1993 to 2001 he worked with theatre groups as director’s assistant and lights, sound and set designer. In 2001 he abandoned the theatre to devote himself entirely to his photographic work.
His work has been shown in numerous exhibitions in Cuba and abroad. Recent exhibitions include “Until We Grow Wings” at Kunsthaus Raskolnikow, Dresden (2019) and “TRACES” at Fábrica de Arte Cubano, Havana (2018). 2019 he participated at the Toronto Biennial of Art.
He is represented in the collection of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Cuba among other collections.
He lives and works in Havana and Berlin.
